Amelia Earhart Fellowships

Each year, Zonta Internationalawards AmeliaEarhart Fellowships of US$10,000 to 35 women worldwide who are pursuing

Ph.D.’s/doctoral degrees in aerospace-relatedsciences or aerospace-related engineering fields. The Amelia Earhart Fellowship was

established in 1938 in honor of famed pilot and Zontian Amelia Earhart. Go to http://www.zonta.org for requirements and

2019 JMK Scholarship is Stephanie Ulman The Zonta Club of Howard County supports the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship program for women of any age who are studying undergraduate or master?s degrees in business or business-related programs. The recipient of the Howard County Club scholarship then vies for additional scholarship money at the district/regional level (US$2,000) and at the international level (6 international scholarships each US$8,000). More information and the application can be found at http://www.zonta.org. Our club winner of the 2019 JMK Scholarship is Stephanie Ulman. Stephanie works toward a career of improving people's lives through Empathy in the business workplace. In addition to studying an MBA at the Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business, she is pursuing a dual major in Design Leadership at the Maryland Institute of Art, in Baltimore, MD. There she mentors real-life business clients on problem solving complex issues. This Masters of Arts degree will prepare her as a human-centered design team leader guided by empathy, leadership and business skills.

Young Women in Public Affairs Award

Established in 1990, we award the Young Women in Public Affairs Award, a local scholarship to encourage young women, ages 16- 19 years old, to continue their commitment to volunteerism and leadership in public and civic causes. Candidates must be active in their local or student government and support Zonta International's Mission of Empowering Women Through Service and Advocacy. There are is a local award and the candidate goes to the district/regional level, and if successful, contends for one of 10 international awards of US$4,000 each. 2019 YWPA Award Club winner Carolyn is passionate about women's health and mental health. She volunteers at a domestic violence shelter and interned at the Maryland Health Department for Howard County on combating suicide in children ages 10-19 years old. She is active in the Girl Up, organization sponsored by the United Nations, advocating for women's education worldwide. Carolyn plans to major in public health for her undergraduate and graduate degrees.
